1. How often does a garage roof need replaced?
This depends on a number of factors such as: the quality of the roofing material, how exposed it is to the elements and how well it has been maintained. A correctly installed garage roof can last anywhere from 10 to 50 years. Signs that your garage roof may need replacing are frequent leaks or damp patches inside the garage as well as worn, cracked roof panels.
2. How can I tell iF my garage roof contains asbestos?
It is not easy to identify roof sheets containing asbestos. However if your garage roof is grey and corrugated and was built anytime up until the 1990s there is a good chance that it does.
3. Can I remove my asbestos garage roof myself?
You can remove an asbestos roof yourself but it is not recommended. Asbestos is an extremely dangerous material and can cause fatal illnesses such as lung cancer, mesothelioma and asbestosis if even the smallest of fibres in the cement are breathed in. There are also very strict rules governing the removal and disposal of asbestos, so it makes sense to use a professional who knows what they are doing. At Garage Roof Scotland we have been licensed by SEPA (Scottish Environmental Protection Agency) to remove and dispose of asbestos safely.
4. How much will it cost to replace my garage roof?
The cost of replacing your garage roof depends on the size and type of garage and what type of roofing you are fitting. If you give us a call with some rough measurements, we can discuss your options and either arrange a site visit to get more information or give you a price there and then.
5. Does it cost more to replace an asbestos garage roof?
Unfortunately it does cost more. This is because there are strict rules for removing and disposing of material containing asbestos. Strict precautions must be adhered to when removing the roofing panels and all materials must be double wrapped and taken to a specialist centre to be weighed, checked and disposed of. However at Garage Roof Scotland you can rest assured that our prices are always highly competitive.
6. How long WILL it take to replace my GARAGE roof?
We can normally remove your old roof and replace it with a new one in just one day.
7. What areas OF Scotland do you cover?
We are based in Edinburgh and regularly do work in the central belt but cover the whole of Scotland.
8. Do you replace all types of garage roof?

9. What type of roofing materials do you use?
We source all our roofing materials from Lidget Compton, market leaders in quality garage roofing supplies.
The Apex Roof System we install consists of B5 fibre cement roof sheets which come in 6 colours. This system is so well designed that bolts, nail, sealants are not required.
The Pent Roof System that we install is comprised of 3”profile galvanised corrugated steel roof sheets with Grafo-Therm on the underside to prevent condensation.
We use these systems because they are tried and tested. We have been in the garage business for many years and can vouch for the quality of these products and how well they perform over time.

9. Do you dispose of my old garage roof?
Yes we will remove and dispose of all old roofing materials.
11. Do you install new garages?
We do not install new garages, but if you need a new garage we will completely remove your old one and lay the concrete foundations ready for your new Lidget Compton one.
12. When is payment Required?
We do not take any payment until we have finished and you are completely happy with our work.
